Mexican Quesadillas
Quesadillas are a great example of traditional Mexican cuisine. These are prepared with warm flour tortillas either with or without oil and inside is a delectable array of toppings. Its signature topping is cheese that is heated and melted and can have other ingredients such as meat, peppers, and various vegetables added to it for a savory and tasty effect.
Like many other foods that we may know of coming from Mexico and Central America, Quesadillas were actually a concept that entered this region from the Spaniards. It all began in 1521 when the Spanish invaded Mexico. When they voyaged here from Europe they brought along with them a new variety of livestock such as cows, pigs, and sheep. With cows came the introduction to dairy products which furthermore lead to the fundamental ingredient of Quesadillas, cheese.
Mexico at the time was already known harvesting a variety of crops which included beans, avocados, corn, squash, and tomatoes. By combining the Spaniards dairy and meat products with the Mexicans crops they were able to create this succulent dish we now know as Quesadillas. It’s quick dining that’s pungent flavors will surely fill you up.
